While Wickremesinghe decried the coup as "unconstitutional" and illegal, Rajapaksa took to the streets to call upon the leader to step down "to respect the law and democracy." Meanwhile, sources said that India will not support unconstitutional means in Sri Lanka. But if Rajapaksa wins constitutionally, India will have little hesitation in dealing with him.
