Interpol,international police body argues that due to criticism for lax scrutiny of red notice requests earlier, it made scrutiny of such requests stricter, thus, leading to a delay in action against Indian fugitives like Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi, Zakir Naik and Mehul Choksi. Such notices have been misused for political, religious and military reasons or curbing freedom of speech.
