Why Assam is on the boil?

Assam is protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which will grant Indian citizenship to minorities in neighbouring countries of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The amendment has been resisted by several NorthEast states. The indigenous groups in these states consider the influx of other religious groups a threat to their culture.
